There are 2 groups/types of referees, In-House and Travel.
Cash payment provided following final game assigned daily
In-House referees
- No certification required. Email the RAYSA Board at [email protected] today to get started!
- New referees are provided some informal training directed by Kevin Lewis
- Limited to U6, U8, and U10 In-House age group games
- Must be 12 years of age or older, however adult referees are welcome
- Must provide own Yellow color referee shirt, whistle, and watch. No other uniform requirements.
- All game assignments are with the RAYSA In-House games Saturday mornings during the Spring and Fall regular seasons.
Travel referees- PA West certification required. Follow instructions provided here at this link on the PA West website.
- There is a small fee to get certified, but RAYSA will reimburse you 100% of the cost. Simply email a copy of your receipt to [email protected] once you have completed the certification process. The RAYSA board will confirm eligibility and return a check reimbursement in a timely manner to you.
- Must be 13 years of age or older. Adult referees are desperately needed!
- Must provide own official referee shirts, shorts, and socks as part of the required uniform kit. Must also provide own whistle, watch, and flags. These items are not reimbursed by RAYSA.
- RAYSA does not reimburse for the cost of the clearances required as part of the certification process; only the cost of the certification itself is reimbursable. If reimbursement is provided, the referee is required to give RAYSA game assignments primary availability at a minimum for the following regular season.
- Most game assignments will be restricted to RAYSA Home games on Sunday afternoons during the Spring and Fall regular seasons, however if you would like to have more games assigned outside of RAYSA then just let Kevin Lewis know.
Current referee RAYSA pay scale - effective Spring 2022
In-House
U6 = $10/game x 1 referee
U8 = $15/game x 2 referees
U10 = 3 referees, $25/assistant referees and $35/center referee
(RAYSA U10 In-House age group currently participates with WCYSA - Washington County Youth Soccer Association - which provides their own referees on game day. If interested in refereeing for WCYSA U10 games, please email RAYSA support for more information. WCYSA pay scale may differ)
Travel
U10 = 3 referees, $35/assistant referees and $45/center referee
U12 = 3 referees, $40/assistant referees and $50/center referee
U13-U18 = 3 referees, $55/assistant referees and $65/center referee
